A Free Weekend

We had an ENTIRE weekend free of soccer!  It has been months since we've had a Saturday and Sunday off. We have been looking forward to this weekend for awhile.  The word "OFF!" is written nice and large on my family planning calendar for this weekend. I've been silently counting down the days until our free weekend.  Our family has been consumed with soccer and it was great to know we were about to embark on a weekend of doing whatever we felt like. I even declined a birthday party invite, which I rarely do because I feel bad doing so.  I was just telling Sebastian that I would honestly pay good money to have a free weekend.  It's absolutely necessary for my sanity, the sanity of my marriage and our family.

We took the kids on a ferry ride.  It was a beautiful day in Coronado to be outside.  I think getting Sebastian on the ferry is a step in the right direction towards getting him on the cruise we've been talking about the past few years.  Or at least getting him a little more comfortable with water for our upcoming Hawaiian vacation.

And we all know that a free Saturday night means, bbq, swimming and jacuzzi with our dear friends.  And a late Saturday night means everyone sleeps in on Sunday. AHHHH!!!!Awesomeness all around!

Pictures compliments of each kid

Alyssa started 4th grade.  It feels like I just dropped her off at preschool.  I wish time would slow down.

Soccer... for JAKEY!

Jake was born the day before Alyssa's very first soccer game. He made his first appearance at Alyssa's soccer practice when he was 4 days old! He has been going to her practices and games his ENTIRE LIFE! After waiting a lifetime he is finally old enough to play.  Jakey is part of the Fantastic Five!  More on the team name in a bit.  He did awesome at his first practice. He was dressed and ready to go an entire hour before we had to leave. He couldn't wait to get out there.  I was a bit nervous about his attitude at practice.  Anyone that spends time around us knows that Jakey is famous for crying, throwing fits, yelling, "I'm mad" and can just be a pill in general.  The only time this doesn't apply, so I hear, is at school.  So with that I wasn't sure how he was going to do at soccer. The coach gets all the kids together at the beginning of practice as says remember the rules, no crying, no kicking, no biting. You would have thought he was speaking directly to Jakey.  Apparently this is a common theme among boys his age. Whew! He ran all the drills, did everything he was supposed with a smile on his face the entire time! Jakey rocked soccer practice!!!

We started telling Jakey to think of name for his team. The coach is going to ask. He said I want to be Supersonic.  We told him nicely that was his sister's team name, think of a name just for your team, for boys.  So what does Jakey suggest when the coach asks for names?  He raises his hand and says, "Supersonic".  The coaches daughter played against Alyssa and Supersonic so he knew exactly where the name came from. haha! The rest of the team didn't say a word.  Quite the difference between boys and girls. The girls always have a name to suggest.  So the coach picked the name. The team will be orange and blue and they will be named Fantastic Five. Cute!

Can't wait for the season. Jakey has been watching his sister all these years and it shows on the field. He is trying the same little move his sister does with the outside of the foot. Hopefully he doesn't copy her move from her first season of soccer where she used the entire field to turn the ball around.  Hilarious!

A little of this and a lot of soccer

Another update in pictures

Two soccer tournaments these past few weeks. These pictures are from the Huntington Beach tournament.

Swimming with the team at the hotel

I went to my 20 year High School Reunion while Alyssa went to the Big Time Rush concert.
Can't believe it's been 20 years.  Going to the reunion was like walking right back into the halls of high school.

Michelle and I have been friends since 1988.

Ceci was one of my very first friends in 7th grade. Oh the stories she could share.

Alyssa wants a baby sister. Too bad he's a BOY!

Jakey wanted a bear at Build A Bear and he actually went through the process instead of staring at the worker like she was crazy.

First day of preschool.  His class is half the size of his class last year. Only 3 boys in the class.

When they told him his teacher was Ms. Minerva he yelled, Yes! She was Alyssa's teacher when Jakey was born.

American Idol concert with Sean and Ms. Carol
Supporting Sean at his travel baseball game.
Sebastian really enjoys supporting Sean. He's a good kid and ballplayer.

My cousin and her family stopped by for a quick visit after a long day at SeaWorld.
Alyssa and and Kara, cousins. Believe it or not, Kara is older!

Kara, Alyssa, Derek and Matthew, oh and Jakey's foot at the top of the picture.

Alyssa's soccer team went to the Wave House for an afternoon of team bonding.
