JAKE

Jake at practice on his birthday heading to a water break.
He is this happy ALL practice.
Jake is 5!!!!  I spent most of his birthday day on Friday on the verge of tears. How is it even possible that my sweet baby boy is 5! No longer a baby or even a toddler for that matter. He is a big boy. We celebrated his birthday at school and then again at soccer practice.  After practice we asked him what he would like to do for his birthday dinner.  His response?  Island's! Right on buddy. Eat at Island's? No, pick it up and eat at home in his pajamas.  That is the ultimate night for Jakey. The weekend was crazy busy. More in a separate post. This is one is all about Jake.

He had his very first soccer game on Saturday. He woke up ready to play.  He did great. He listened to his coach, cheered for his team when he sat out and even scored a goal.  Couldn't ask for a better first game.

Jakey's sequence of pictures scoring his first GOAL ever!

Jake's turn to sit out he actually stood on the sideline with his teammate, Ian, and cheered for his team

We had the Game Truck come to the house for Jakey's party.  Because of the limited number of kids allowed in the truck we kept the party small, so we thought. Jake played in the truck for awhile, but then declared it was hot and went swimming. He later informed me there were too many kids. He's so funny. We purposely kept the party small because he shuts down if there are too many people. Guess still not small enough for Jake. I asked him at the end of the night, "how many kids is not too many?"  His response, "1".  Um okay. Next time, one kid it is.

Jakey, my sweet baby boy, you are so very loved! Happy 5th birthday!!!!

Your sister asked for a baby Jake for so very long. Long before I was pregnant. She was in disbelief when she first  saw you.

Calm before the storm

After Alyssa was born, Sebastian and I would ask each other what the heck  did we do with all our free time before having a baby.  We've decided we did a whole of lot of sleeping and spending our leisure time however we darn well pleased. Then as Alyssa became involved in dance, cooking, bumble bee sports, tennis and swim class to name a few we thought we were "busy".  How foolish we were as young parents to one small child.  These days it feels as if we are always on the go.  I'm sure I'll look back on these posts in a few years and laugh. We'll probably be way busier and wish for these days back. Until then I'm feeling like our life is chaotic.  As I've mentioned previously free weekends are few and far between. In fact, Labor Day weekend is the last weekend we have a Saturday and Sunday off until Thanksgiving.  So right now we are reveling in free time. It's been amazing not having to set an alarm clock all weekend.  On Saturday the kids were reluctant to even get dressed.  I'm so glad they had this weekend before both kids start their soccer seasons next Saturday.

Alyssa's been struggling on the field the past month or so. Actually all the girls have been.  I think they are tired from all the play this summer.  These past two weeks off from games have been great for them. Alyssa is trying to find her groove on the field again.  She played more like herself at this week's scrimmage.  She didn't back down and actually got aggressive with the other team. She's finally understanding she's bigger than most girls and just needs to use it to her advantage.

This girl was abusing our girls all game. She tried to do it to Alyssa, only it didn't work out the way she planned.  One of the dads told her, "they mess with you, they eat dirt."

Same expression on her face every single time she takes a corner kick.

Jake is continuing to love practice.  He smiles the entire time. Can't wait for his first game next week. Go #2!

G-O-A-L! He wants to score goals just like his sister did at this age. Only difference is when he scored his goals he laid down on the ground and rolled around. Hope he doesn't feel the need to do it on game days.

The team was playing cookie monster (sort of like keep away), the coach was the cookie monster trying to steal the ball. Jake yells, "come on cookie."  The tone was so taunting. He's too much!  (he's got his arm out just like his sister does when she's ready to take a shot...too cute)

A Fire Fox celebrated her birthday this weekend with a family bbq and sleepover.  Jakey told me, "I'm worried about spending the night at Vero's." Haha, I reassured him only the FF were spending the night. He was relieved to hear he was coming home.
Many combinations of the water balloon toss ....kids only...Lis won with Marcella.  Dad and daughter, not a winner.  Dad and Mom, not a winner.  Mom and daughter...WINNERS!  Hmmm...who's the common denominator on the losing teams???? Just saying.

Morning after sleepover. Go Fire Foxes!
